Maybe they recognize the children who have come to the mountain. They watch them grow and bring their friends and later their children too. They watch them eat and walk and play in the soft snow. They watch these generations come to seek solace, beauty and the peace the pine have helped to provide. These children have become theirs now. They watch them grow old as they return through the years.
